The third most visited place in France (after Paris and Mont St Michel), Carcassone, in the Languedoc region, is steeped in fascinating Cathar history. With its unforgettable medieval skyline and fairytale castle that inspired Walt Disney, it’s no wonder that it’s so popular with visitors.
