Stockholm

In many people's mind the unofficial cultural capital of Scandinavia, Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities populated by some of the most beautiful people on the planet. Made up of 14 islands which lie between the Baltic Sea and Lake Mälaren and which are connected to each other by 57 bridges, the Swedish capital is a city where everything and everyone seems to possess an innate sense of style. Justifiably renowned for its design and fashion industries, Stockholm is a hotbed of superb restaurants, fantastic boutiques and fabulous bars where one thing's for certain: Swedes know how to party. Add to this a healthy dose of culture (100 galleries and 70 museums), natural beauty (there are 38 parks in the city) and seductive architecture and you have a vibrant and stunning metropolis. While not a cheap place to visit, the quality of everything you find here is superb. Moreover, it's an easy place for English speakers as it seems that every Swede speaks English as well as if not better than the British. Best visited in summer, when the sun nearly never sets and the locals make the most of this watery paradise, you can go swimming, fishing and boating in the heart of the city. Glamorous, down-to-earth, urban yet natural, elegant and cutting-edge, Stockholm is just wonderful.
